Alexa Kitchen

Play kitchens have historically been a stepping stone into make believe play. From hands-on fun like opening doors, pushing buttons and adding food into pans to imaginative play such as thinking up creative meals to serving friends, family and stuffed animals, kitchens allow for using the body and the mind. Toddler kitchens are just the right size for little ones to learn about the process of making food. It’s a good time to teach that burners and ovens are hot and which side of the faucet to turn for hot or cold water. Kids can also learn about all the different food groups. Many appliances make sounds or light up too, like our faucets, stovetops or ice makers. Chalkboards can encourage artistic creativity.

Play kitchens can mirror the look of real-life kitchens, whether they’re vintage or modern. Or, kitchens can be totally fantastical—like something a child dreamed of on their own. Bright colors, curtains, even faces on the backgrounds ignite wondrous playtime. Add in utensils, pots, pans, play food and accessories for extra imagining. And, now with the addition of the Alexa 2-in-1 Kitchen and Market, play gets a nod toward technology. The KidKraft skill for Amazon Alexa gives prompts to kids to think about cooking and grocery shopping in new ways. Finding foods promotes reasoning skills. Following directions for recipes lets kids learn cause and effect.
