Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good item with a couple minor drawbacks Ok so I got this half off which is mainly why I purchased it after reading reviews stating certain issues but overall it was a good item. It isn’t easy to put together. The little twist screw into the rod is like not easy at all. After finishing when I went to move it one of the tops popped off. I just put it back down and set something on it lol. The screw themselves are easily warped and I had already bent a couple. They do send extra pieces which I appreciated but I ended up needing like 3 extra turn screws and 2 extra bolt and screw things and they only have one extra of each thing. There are a couple places where the fiberboard came through bc of the difficulty screwing but overall it looks fine- the mistakes I made are easy to hide most are in the inside or the back. I will say though, I put stuff together all the time and I saw the picture and I looked at the directions and thought: 90 minutes. It was 3 hours later before I was done and that was with mistakes I just stopped trying to correct lol. I am not someone who struggles a ton with this stuff so when people say it’s hard to put together it’s true. My other issue is how oddly shaped the cubes are- I read the dimensions and I knew going in they weren’t standard but the 2 inside cubes are SO ODDLY DIMENSIONED literally no storage cube fits in them besides ONE option I found at the container store. And I literally looked on the internet over several days, like an embarrassing long time. Lol. The outside ones were easy enough to find storage baskets for. Overall it is serving the purpose I need it to- my daughter likes her little seat and uses it and it also doubles as a place to put her baby doll which she loves. The top parts work well for books and you can put shorter books on the insides where the incline is and taller books on the outside. It is also congruent with the kidKraft kitchen I bought her, though that is white and this is mint they still complement each other and is nice. The mint color is also very nice i like that it is different than a standard brown/tan or pink/blue and it isn’t too bright or crazy. If you can get one of these for under $70 bucks I’d get it. I wouldn’t have liked it as much for full price though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from bookcase with reading nook I had a little difficulty putting the bookcase together but it was totally my fault for not checking the directions better. I accidentally split the end boards while trying to connect them upside down. Customer service was excellent and the boards were quickly replaced. After figuring out my mistake, I was able to put it together by myself and it looks just like the picture and it held up to my weight sitting on it. I won't say my exact weight but it's definitely over 100 lbs. My grandkids are going to love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kids Love It My kids (ages 3 and 5) love these. They came into my bedroom and clapped for me after relaxing on them and reading books and they sit on them every day to draw or read or calm down. I did struggle getting the last four pieces of hardware into them. The awkward angle made it really hard for the bolt to bite into the little metal things that needed to hold it in place. For reference, it took me 1 hour to put the whole thing together, then another hour of tag teaming with someone else to et in the final four bolts. Overall, not a difficult build and worth it for my kids. Sturdy and hold a lot of books. I have not sat on them so I am not sure how well they would support an adult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bookshelf option My kiddo loves it, and it fit more books than I expected. Not too bad to put together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bookcase with Reading Nook-Mint We love the mint color and the way it is designed. The shelf sizes are smaller than we thought they would be, I should have looked at the dimensions more. The seating area is nicely built but almost impossible to get the backboard screwed into place. It says it is a 1-2 hour build, but more like a 3-4 hour build. My biggest disappointment is that 50% of the edges have chips or were not ever made where the color goes all the way to the edge in the first place. Had I paid full price instead of sale price for this item I would have returned it because of these rough unfinished parts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but some small problems Lovely. My 6 year old daughter loves it, but it is quite small and not the easiest thing to build. Also, the wood is high quality but the cushion isn’t heat so I recommend buying a pillow to go with it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Awful assembly, cheap materials I love the KidKraft toy box, so I was disappointed to open this package and find dirty, scratched parts that looked like they'd already been assembled once and then returned. I guess a previous purchaser got to the final assembly step where you screw in four Allen bolts a quarter-turn at a time because of the complete lack of clearance, then gave up and sent it back. Issues, aside from mysterious grimy fingerprints, half-peeled-off stickers, and scuffs that don't buff out: 1. The engineered wood that makes up the central dividers is incredibly soft and weak. The pre-installed screw holes are tiny, so if you miss them, your screws will just bite into the soft wood instead and ruin it. 2. The design makes heavy use of cam lock nuts, which are those wide nuts that slide around the end of a bolt and then turn 180 degrees to hold the joint secure. That's fine, but in this bookcase, you have to either under-tighten or over-tighten the bolts in order to have clearance for the nut. The instructions don't mention this at all, much less that over-tightening is required for the first set of nuts and under-tightening for the second. 3. Every time you remove a piece to under/over-tighten the bolts because you can't get the cam lock nut to turn, you risk crunching the connectors on the other side of the piece because of issue 1, the horribly soft engineered wood. I am pretty good at furniture assembly and still had to re-do the cam lock nuts about 4 times each because of the different (undocumented) tolerances for each piece. 4. The very last step has you attach four Allen bolts in the back, with approx. 2 mm of clearance behind the bolts and 2 cm of clearance below the bottom two bolts. This is obviously significantly smaller than the size of the provided Allen wrench. Have fun turning those babies a quarter-turn at a time. 5. The provided pillow is not dark gray as pictured, but light gray with white polka dots. It has the same density and durable feel as a packing peanut. It is washable and comes off with a zipper, which is great news if yours arrived filthy like mine. The three parts are attached together so that you cannot easily sew replacement covers. There is already barely enough room for my 38" toddler, much less any pillow I might add to provide some back support. Overall, I expect this to look like complete junk in about two years, and be too small for my kid in one. I regret every moment I spent on its assembly and I will probably avoid KidKraft in the future. On the other hand, he declared "new bed!" and tried to put himself to sleep in it as soon as I assembled it. So, two stars.
