Rated 2 out of 5 by Bummed from Looks nice but has some flaws The instructions for this set are great and easy to follow. We had plenty of extra pieces left at the end (I double checked, we did not miss anything). I agree with the other reviews - " We can see the pieces just rocking back and forth." We also have pieces of the slide shearing off (screws that going into round plastic "sockets" that hold the two pieces of the slide together. They come off where the "sockets" meet the main section of the plastic of the slide - so far 3 for the 4 have popped up and can not be fixed or replace. So I will need to find a way to fix this. Many of the repairs I could make to this set are not worth it because I would have to take the whole thing apart and I do not have another 3 day weekend I can devote to this. A partial refund would be great. A few design improvements and more user testing of this product would have made it a much better project. I would not suggest children over 50 lbs using this. This is still usable but unlikely to last more than a season, it is not a good value for what we paid. We specifically bought it due to the Kidcraft reputation but I think this product was rushed to market.

Rated 1 out of 5 by James from Poor Quality My wife and I bought this swingset back in April. Quality is very poor. Boards feel thin and cheap. Swingset is not sturdy as a result. Don't recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by nothappywiththis from Do not buy! Here's why... We purchased this for our boys ages 4 and 2. It took 10 hours with me and another adult putting it together. The wood is very low grade. You can tell immediately by how lightweight it is. Also, screws/bolts easily pierce through it. The 4 main posts for the slide are not solid pieces, but two pieces that bolt together making them VERY weak for my 4 and 2-year-old when swinging. We can see the pieces just rocking back and forth. Within 5 days of them on it, I had to restain it due to the brown coating wearing off AND I had to go to Home Depot to buy more wood just to rebrace the unit. Now that we've put another $50 in wood and 2 more hours of time bracing it, I can honestly say this is not a unit I recommend. I wish we could return it! Oh, last thing... The main support beam for the swings seems decent until you realize that it secures into a paper-thin board that's less than an inch thick.

Does the wood need to be treated right out of the box?
At the factory we have coated the wood with a water repellent or stain. This coating decreases the amount of water absorption during rain or snow thus decreasing the tension in the wood. Sunlight will break down the coating, applying a water repellent or stain on a yearly basis is important maintenance. (see your local stain and paint supplier for a recommended product).

Even though everything is tightened, why does the whole play set sway when my kid are swinging? Is that a safety issue? Is it going to fall apart? I noticed that the wood is sort of brittle. It makes cracking noises if I squeeze it with my fingers.
Sean77, we have the exact same issue. I had to go to Home Depot and buy more high grade wood just to support it. This was a horrible purchase for us.

Can you buy this set with just one swing instead of two? Or, can it be adjusted to just one swing?
Hi Marlie, The playset is designed and safety tested to be assembled as shown only. Any modifications made to the original product could damage the structural integrity of the unit leading to failure and possible injury. Thank you!-The KidKraft Customer Care Team
